Best Practices Information and Benefits

The Best Practices Program for Asbestos Detection and Control Protocol: Vermiculite Mining and Milling promotes mining operations that are following proper protocol for asbestos detection and control.

This program requires participants to follow specific protocols related to many areas of internal controls. Specifically, the program looks at quality control systems, management and technical training, asbestos control procedures, analytical test procedures, microscope set-up, and pre-shipment quality assurance.

Please note: TVA does NOT perform testing or verify the results of this self-reported program. We rely on the participants to submit accurate and verifiable information to participate in the program. TVA audits 20% of the participants annually.

Those who choose to participate in this program will receive the following benefits:

TVA membership is not required to participate, but the program is less expensive for members. Mining operations who qualify for membership can join by clicking here.

Participation requires completion of the Best Practices license agreement, with payment, and submission of the forms within the procedural guide found here.
